My Favourite Family Photography Locations in Redlands
One of the questions I get asked most when families book their session is, "Sarah, where should we have our photos?"
And honestly, we're pretty spoilt for choice here in the Redlands.
From beautiful open fields to quiet little beaches, there are so many gorgeous spots for family photography around Cleveland, Thornlands, Wellington Point and Redland Bay.
As a Redlands family photographer, I've spent plenty of afternoons chasing the last little bit of sunlight, finding beautiful pockets of light and watching families make memories in some pretty special places.
So I thought I'd share a few of my favourites.
Raby Bay Beach, Cleveland
If you love sandy toes, calm water and that beautiful soft light just before sunset, Raby Bay is such a lovely option.
It's particularly beautiful for families with little ones who love exploring, splashing and getting a little sandy.
There's plenty of room to move, and the gentle water makes for some really beautiful, natural moments.
And yes, the kids will probably end up wet. I say embrace it!
Wellington Point
Wellington Point is one of those classic Redlands locations that never really gets old.
With its beautiful ocean views, open spaces and the iconic sandbar at low tide, it's a gorgeous option for maternity, couples and family photography.
The sandbar is very tide-dependent, though, and it can get quite windy, so a little planning goes a long way.
Cleveland's Grassy Fields
There's something about a beautiful open field at sunset that I will never get tired of.
The golden light, the long grass, the space for kids to run around. It's simple, but that's exactly why I love it.
No busy backgrounds or distractions. Just you, your favourite people and a little bit of that beautiful afternoon sunshine.
These sessions are especially lovely for families who want relaxed photos without feeling too posed.
Thornlands Fields
Being based in Thornlands myself, I have a soft spot for the beautiful little pockets of nature around home.
Open fields are perfect for those families who want something quiet, earthy and simple.
Think warm light, cuddles, kids running around and all those little moments that happen in between.
So, which location should you choose?
Honestly, there's no perfect answer.
Some families love the beach, others prefer a quiet grassy field. Some want somewhere meaningful, while others are happy to leave the location up to me.
And that's completely fine.
